Wildlife Photography Workshop

Length Of Session: This is a two part class, 2 hours in class lecture & 4 hours of in the field instruction.

Photographing birds in the wild requires a mix of instinct, creativity and experience. Come learn from expert bird photographer Karen Schuenemann in this 2-part workshop.Good technique is important, and in the lecture, we will cover the appropriate equipment for photographing birds and take a brief look at the basics of exposure and choosing both appropriate shutter speeds and depth of field. We will discuss in detail different focal length lenses and the best bird photography lenses, as well as focusing techniques and composition.Then join us on location for the in-field shooting portion of the workshop. Instructor Karen will be guiding you step by step through capturing bird photos in their natural environment. Tuttle Cameras and Tamron will have some of their amazing lenses available for your use.

EXPERIENCE LEVEL: Intermediate to Advanced

YOU SHOULD TAKE THIS COURSE IF: You'd love to learn how to use your DSLR to get amazing up-close and personal images of nature and bird life; you're interested in experiencing a Photo Field Trip close to home.WHAT TO BRING / REQUIREMENTS: Attendee should bring your camera, and notepad. Make sure your battery is fully charged and you have an empty memory card ready to take pictures. Your camera manual is also useful to have with you.

​GUEST INSTRUCTOR: Karen Schuenemann is an award winning wildlife and nature photographer. She is a member of North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA) and has won numerous awards and she was featured on National Geographic Picture of the Week. Her work has been shown internationally as well as in local exhibitions. Karen teaches Wildlife and Nature Photography and leads a variety of wildlife and nature workshops across the country.
